Roswell Musuem

If there's a place that embraces the otherworldly, it's Roswell, New Mexico. But even this town known for its extraterrestrial connections gets into the holiday spirit. Deb and I decided to experience this unique blend of Christmas cheer and UFO intrigue firsthand on a pre-holiday drive through on our way to El Paso.

A Festive Welcome to Roswell

As we drove into town, we were greeted by holiday lights lining the streets, many with a quirky alien twist.  Even the lampposts were adorned with little green men! The town square was decorated with a Christmas tree, and local shops had festive window displays showcasing both Santa and spaceships.

The International UFO Museum and Research Center: A Holiday Must-See

Of course, our first stop was the International Roswell UFO Museum and Research Center. As we entered, we were immediately immersed in a world of alien lore and speculation. Exhibits detailed the infamous Roswell Incident of 1947, displaying newspaper clippings, eyewitness accounts, and even artifacts allegedly recovered from the crash site.

Tall alien

While the museum itself wasn't overtly decked out for the holidays, there was a subtle festive touch here and there. A miniature alien Santa Claus greeted us at the entrance, and some of the displays featured twinkling lights and holiday-themed alien figurines.

We spent hours wandering through the museum, reading the exhibits, watching documentaries, and debating the possibilities. It was a fascinating experience, and the holiday season somehow made it even more magical.

More Than Just Aliens: A Town with Holiday Spirit

After our museum visit, we explored the town, which was bustling with holiday activity. We popped into local shops for unique gifts (I couldn't resist an alien-themed Christmas ornament) and enjoyed a delicious dinner at a restaurant known for its "alien burgers." The festive atmosphere was infectious, and we found ourselves laughing and enjoying the holiday cheer.
